iOS DevicesA full house at Artisano's for September's meetup:  From An Idea To The App Store.  Keynote presenter Tony Wallace gave us a great roadmap for the design, development and distribution of iPhone and iPad apps.

Apple’s iOS is one of the hottest mobile computing platforms, but many designers and developers are unsure of how to bring their app ideas to life.  Tony talked about:

Designing - Design is about much more than visuals. It’s about understanding what you should build, before you build it, minimum viable product, accounting for future enhancements and planning the user experience.

Developing - He spoke about Objective C language and how it differs from some of the more conventional programming languages as well as the Cocoa Touch frameworks, open source frameworks, and popular third-party libraries.

Distribution-  He covered the pros, cons,  dos and don’ts of the App Store approval process, pricing strategies, and user analytics.

We all had a much better understanding of iOS development, and a few Silicon Halton members are planning to start building their own apps.
